HANNAH LA COSTA
HOLISTIC CANINE BEHAVIOUR AND COUNSELLING
About
Dogs and horses have always shared a big part of my life.
Having a dog as a family member for much of my life and working with and owning horses for 25 years or so.
I have ridden many starters (young horses) and remedial horses, always using their body language and communication, having a calm grounded approach to work and always found when using this method the horses would respond in a much more positive way remaining calm and being able to digest what was being taught/ shown to them, allowing them the time to understand and deal with situations that may otherwise be confusing and stressful.
I have tried a few ways of "training" my dogs, the common classroom method, the showing method but my gut was telling me that none of them seemed quite the right thing to do for my dogs and then the penny dropped! if I use equine body langauge and communication with my horses then why don't I use canine body language and communication with my dogs?!!
This is when I discovered Sheila Harper Ltd and started to learn and work with these methods. I have completed the 15 month in-depth IDBTS course (International Dog Behaviour and Training School) and am currently working towards a Level 4 OCN Qualification. I am also studying the advanced course IPACS 2 (International Programme for Applied Canine Studies)
I have gained a deep knowledge of canine behaviour, body langauge and communication, lead handling, behavioural issues, stress reduction methods and working with a dogs natural abilities.
Hannah taught me the art of patience and understanding of Dave the Spaniel's needs, now we're the best of friends

Hannah has been helping with my rescue dog Bindi for the last year. She has a very loving and calm approach which lets the dog feel safe and happy whilst teaching them to deal with their problems and anxietys and without using treats or fear. Bindi has improved so much and is alot calmer. I would recommend Hannah to help with any dog.
